The Rocky Port Incident
What we knew up to this point:
- “Surgeon of Death” Trafalgar Law was the mastermind
- Koby protected citizens from pirates and became known as a “Hero of the Navy”
But the most recent chapters revealed new information:
- Blackbeard and Koby had met
- Thanks to Koby, Blackbeard defeated Wang Zhi and claimed the title of boss of the pirate island Hachinosu
So — did Blackbeard and Law meet? What about Law and Wang Zhi? Law and Koby?
The Rocky Port Incident has only grown more mysterious. Let me put forward a hypothesis.
A Hypothesis
“Rocky” and “Shakky”
The reappearance of Shakuyaku is a key clue.
“Shakky” is the nickname of Shakuyaku. Her bar is called “Shakky’s Rip-off Bar.”
What if the same naming logic applies to Rocky Port?
“Rocky” would be a nickname for “Rocks.” “Port” just means harbor.
In other words: “Rocks’ Port” — the harbor of Rocks.
It could be Rocks’ old territory, or a port town he built.
If so, Wang Zhi’s name appearing there suddenly makes sense.
After the God Valley Incident destroyed the Rocks Pirates, their home base Hachinosu was passed on to Wang Zhi — suggesting Rocks may have entrusted it to him.
Rocks and Wang Zhi may have shared a bond like Roger and Rayleigh, or Shanks and Beckman.
Is Rocky Port Former Whitebeard Territory?
If “Rocky Port” was one of Whitebeard’s former territories, you can easily imagine why both Law and Wang Zhi would target it.
- Law’s goal → Ambushing pirates in former Whitebeard territory would make bounty hunting efficient. Rocky Port may simply have been the closest option.
- Wang Zhi’s goal → He didn’t want another pirate taking an island named after Rocks’ nickname.
And then Blackbeard showed up, targeting Wang Zhi to seize the boss title of Hachinosu. Koby also arrived, aiming to capture Wang Zhi.
Something like that, perhaps.
Was Law Really the Mastermind?
If events unfolded as hypothesized, there’s a possibility that “Law, Blackbeard, and Koby teamed up to take down Wang Zhi.”
Koby receiving the title “Hero of the Navy” echoes the God Valley Incident,
meaning Law’s situation was likely:
- Fought Wang Zhi’s pirates, took 100 hearts, and presented them to the Navy
- Was granted Warlord status by the Navy in exchange for keeping the alliance secret and taking the blame as “mastermind”
And for Koby:
- Forced to hide the fact that he fought alongside pirates, taking sole credit — and forced into an early promotion
Blackbeard:
- Was written out of the official account — but he got everything he wanted, so he didn’t care
Something along those lines.
The confirmation is something to look forward to.
Law’s Grand Plan
Now that the Wano arc has concluded, the truth of the Rocky Port Incident is finally about to be revealed.
That’s because the Rocky Port Incident was merely the very first step of Law’s grand scheme.
Law’s full plan worked like this:
- Defeat Emperor Kaido
- To do that:
- Prevent more powerful SMILE users from appearing
- To do that:
- Take down Joker (Doflamingo), SMILE’s supplier
- To do that:
- Force Doflamingo to forfeit his Warlord title and get captured by the Navy
- To do that:
- Take Caesar (who can make SMILE) hostage
- To do that:
- Find a way to reach Punk Hazard, where Caesar and the SAD factory are
- To do that:
- Steal intel from a government facility
- To do that:
- Become a Warlord
- To do that:
- Present 100 high-bounty pirates’ hearts — or a large number of pirates — to the Navy
- To do that:
- Ambush pirates in a place where they are likely to attack
- The chosen location: “Rocky Port”
That’s the chain of logic.
The son of a doctor, a star student in every sense. His thinking is on a completely different level from pirates who just act on impulse.
And more than that — by engineering a clash between the Navy and Wang Zhi at Rocky Port, he may have been hoping to eliminate Blackbeard as a bonus.
While they were allies, he was a reliable guy. Now that they’re enemies again, he’s a formidable threat.
And on that note, we’ll wrap things up for today. Thank you!
