Timeline Before the God Valley Incident
- 42 years ago: Shakky opens her infamous bar.
- 40 years ago: Rocks’ first son, Marshall D. Teach, is born.
- 39 years ago: Shanks and Shamrock are born.
That means the God Valley Incident was only one year away…
The God Valley Connection: Kuma’s Childhood
The God Valley flashback also ties into Bartholomew Kuma’s childhood, showing us how deeply the world’s history shaped key figures.

Roger and Shakky — Egghead Homage

In Chapter 1158 we see:
- Roger sulking after reading a letter addressed to Rayleigh.
- Shakky sulking because Rayleigh didn’t come to see her.
This is clearly a homage to the Egghead arc, mirroring how Bonney felt in front of Kuma’s letter.

Chapter 332 “Luffy vs. Usopp” Homage

Thanks to the rule set by Shakuyaku — “If this bar is your destination, then all fighting on the island is forbidden!!” — a miracle happened: Roger and Rocks were able to sit in the same bar and drink together.
But once they were out at sea, they were enemies on the brink of battle!
That’s why this week’s title and the tense face-off are a clear homage to Chapter 332, “Luffy vs. Usopp”:

Just like Luffy and Usopp, who were friends but forced into a duel, this time it was Harald who ended up clashing.
Moria and the Norse Myth of Ragnarok

Now, let’s shift to Gecko Moria.
If Oda really brings him back, there’s a powerful mythological angle waiting:
- Moria joining Yamato’s crew
- His zombie army acting as Naglfar, the ship of the dead from Norse Ragnarok
This could be Oda’s way of setting up the ultimate Norse myth reference in One Piece.

Game of Thrones Parallel

This idea might sound familiar. Game of Thrones also used heavy Norse mythology themes — especially the army of the dead, which parallels Ragnarok’s prophecy.
If Oda follows this path, Moria’s role could become much bigger than anyone expects.
