Loki One Piece Theory | Devil Fruit, Norse Mythology & Sun God Mystery Fully Explained [Elbaf Arc Latest]

“He wanted the legendary Devil Fruit passed down through the Elbaf royal family—so he killed King Harald, his own father, to get it!!” “He is the Shame of Elbaf!!”

“I am the Sun God who will end the world!! Loki!!”

Loki—dubbed the Cursed Prince, Patricide, Shame of Elbaf—was despised by all in Elbaf. But a past flashback revealing the truth behind the patricide and why he ate the Devil Fruit completely flipped the narrative.

Loki, Harald

Biological Father: Harald

Loki was rumored to have “killed King Harald his own father just to get Elbaf’s legendary Devil Fruit”—but the truth was the complete opposite.

Harald sought World Government membership to transform Elbaf from a warrior nation, voluntarily making himself their slave.

In the end, through a deep-sea contract with Imu, Harald was made absolutely unable to disobey orders, and was commanded to “offer Elbaf’s citizens as battle slaves”—the direct opposite of everything Harald wanted.

The only way to stop Harald—whose enhanced immortal body was taken over—was for Loki to obtain the legendary Devil Fruit power and use brute force to stop him.

It was revealed that Loki bore the disgrace of patricide to protect Harald’s honor.

Biological Mother: Estrid

Estrid, who despised Loki’s unusual eyes, tried to drop the newborn Loki off a cliff to kill him, but failed. Loki remembers that moment and does not consider Estrid his mother.

Estrid made numerous ominous prophecies about Loki, spreading rumors that reached the citizens and earning him the title “Cursed Prince.”

Everything connected to Estrid—the “lucky horse” Asla given as a wedding gift, her brother acting as regent, and the people of her home village—were all eliminated by Loki.

Harald, Ida

The Mother Loki Acknowledges: Ida

Hajrudin’s mother. She loved Loki just as she loved her own child.

Loki had given up on parental love as an infant, but Ida—who kept showing him love no matter how badly he acted—was eventually accepted by Loki over time, to the point he called her “my one true mother.”

Half-Brother: Hajrudin

Like the people of Elbaf, Hajrudin had believed Loki killed Harald out of greed—but after Loki revealed the truth of the patricide, he apologized for the misunderstanding and vowed to fight alongside Loki for Elbaf’s sake.

Role Model: Rocks D. Xebec

The one who gave hope to Loki—who had been repeatedly attempting suicide and had given up on life due to his mother’s abuse.

Hearing Rocks’ ambitions, Loki was moved to tears by their grandeur and was able to look forward to the future.

Loki overlaid Nika onto Rocks, calling him a warrior of liberation who would destroy the world.

Loki himself later took the title “the Sun God who ends the world”—a combination of Rocks and Nika.

Bad Terms: Shanks

Loki broke free of Shanks’ restraint to avenge Harald, but Shanks forcibly dragged him back and bound him to the Treasure Tree Adam for six years.

The fact that Loki (a Nidhoggr user) and Shanks (who wields the Gryphon sword) are on bad terms is faithful to Norse mythology.

Nidhoggr has a bird nemesis called Vedrfölnir, an eagle they constantly exchange insults with.

It is speculated that Loki is depicted as Nidhoggr and Shanks as Vedrfölnir.

Unrequited Love: Charlotte Lola

Loki fell in love at first sight and proposed to her, but was turned down.

The reasons—why Loki fell for her and why Lola refused—remain unknown. However, their shared feature of braids, a characteristic hairstyle of Norse warriors, is said to hold the key.

Mosa-ko

A long-time friend Loki has never met or seen—they only talk via Den Den Mushi.

The Den Den Mushi reflecting the caller’s features showed long eyelashes, and the polite speech suggested the caller was female.

Then in Chapter 1167 (Vol.115), decisive evidence was revealed.

The identity of Mosa-ko is Shirahoshi.

The Prince of Elbaf atop the Treasure Tree Adam + the Princess of Ryugu Kingdom beneath the Sun Tree Eve.

Adam is Loki, Eve is Shirahoshi.

It couldn’t be a more perfect pairing.

Was Loki Once a Four Emperor?

Loki’s crucifixion happened six years ago—this matches exactly when Shanks joined the Four Emperors.

This gave rise to the theory that “Loki was once a Four Emperor.” The story goes that Loki was once called a Four Emperor, was defeated by Shanks, and was replaced by him.

The basis for this theory is Loki’s World Government special bounty of 2.6 billion berries—nearly the same as Luffy’s.

However, there is a fatal flaw in this theory. Being called a “Four Emperor” requires having your own territory.

Whitebeard, Kaido, Big Mom, Shanks, Teach, and Luffy—all of them had islands under their flags. An emperor is someone who rules an empire, so without territory, the title of emperor cannot apply.

Loki was Prince of Elbaf, but after Harald’s death, he never took the throne—the kingdom remained without a king. So Loki had no territory to defend with his pirate flag, and at this point, the “Former Four Emperor” theory falls apart.

The Mystery of Loki the Sun God

“I am the Sun God who will end the world!! Loki!!”

Just like Road, Loki was calling himself the “Sun God.”

Road, Sun God
Source: ONE PIECE Vol.112, Eiichiro Oda/Shueisha

Road explained his reasoning: “Anyone born in Elbaf carries the dream of becoming the Sun God and ruling the world.”

Hajrudin and the New Giant Warrior Pirates also said “everyone in Elbaf admires Nika.” So Loki likely called himself the Sun God out of admiration for the Sun God Nika.

Nika appears twice in the ancient Elbaph text “Harley,” but because there is no one who can properly translate the old language, it has been passed down in various forms—”God of Liberation,” “God of Destruction,” “God of Laughter.”

Any of these could be Nika’s true form, and there is also the possibility that all of them are wrong.

Will He Become Luffy’s Crewmate?

Will Loki become Luffy’s crewmate?

The answer is both YES and NO.

The reason comes down to the definition of “crewmate.”

The typical crewmate rides the Sunny, has a role, and adventures with Luffy. But that’s not the only definition.

Is Vivi, who stayed behind in Alabasta, no longer a crewmate? What about Yamato, who promised to join when her own adventure was done? Momo, who chose to protect his country as a member of the Kozuki clan? Kinemon? The Straw Hat Grand Fleet?

“Crewmate” means anyone Luffy doesn’t want to lose.

That feeling is already beginning to take root between Loki and Luffy.

However, the idea of Loki immediately adventuring alongside them after the Elbaf arc is absolutely out of the question.

Because Loki has things he must do.

Loki Will Reunite the Galley-La

The “Great Hammer Fleet (Gareia)”—a legendary giant shipwright crew handed down in Elbaf folklore—was not myth. They actually existed.

Rocks knew of their existence and told Loki about them, believing “Harald could move them.”

That means Loki, who has inherited the will of both Rocks and Harald, has a mission: to revive the Galley-La.

So where is the Galley-La now?

This is where the frozen giants of Punk Hazard connect.

Based on silhouette matches, the frozen giants of Punk Hazard are almost certainly the Galley-La.

And now in Elbaf is Vegapunk—former ruler of Punk Hazard.

If Vegapunk mentions the frozen giants, Loki would naturally head to Punk Hazard. Incidentally, every character frozen in the One Piece story has been revived without exception. The Galley-La will be no different.

And Loki has a trump card for thawing them—Ragnil.

“Ragnil (Iron Lightning),” obtained alongside the Nidhoggr power, also possesses the ability to melt ice.

Head to Punk Hazard, thaw the Galley-La with Ragnil—as the “captain leading the Galley-La” that Rocks once dreamed of, Loki inherits that mission.

Furthermore, the Galley-La has yet another mission to fulfill.

Noah, Sea Kings, That Clan
Source: ONE PIECE Vol.66, Eiichiro Oda/Shueisha

The repair of Noah’s Ark.

“That clan who can repair Noah” spoken of by the Sea Kings—only the Galley-La, master shipwrights, fits the description.

And Noah is in Fish-Man Island—where Shirahoshi (Mosa-ko), Loki’s promised partner, lives.

Currently, Fish-Man Island is in a state of emergency.

Leading the Galley-La to Fish-Man Island means the mission to repair Noah and the personal motivation to save Shirahoshi converge—Loki has every reason to go there.

Summing up Loki’s route after the Elbaf arc:

The ambitions Rocks once envisioned—Loki will realize them in a different form. I believe he is a character carrying that grand role.
