Skypiea Arc Homage

Yamato cover story Vol.29: “Carpenter harbor-friend, the daughters are freed!” The scene of the captives being released by Yamato maps to the Skypiea moment after Enel was defeated — the priests who had sided with Ganfall were freed from confinement. Earlier chapters had scattered Skypiea callbacks (island clouds, ships running vertically), but this cover story marks the point where the Skypiea homage becomes systematic.
A Research Facility Over 3,000 Years Old

Franky is shown a research facility that has existed for over 3,000 years — an ancient facility. The direct homage: Enel’s ancient moon city, discovered during the cover story arc. The moon city had powered down and gone dormant, then was reactivated by Enel’s lightning strike. Exactly the same mechanism is about to play out in Elbaf — a dormant ancient facility, and arriving to strike it with lightning is a thundercloud-form monster.

Lightning revives the ancient facility → the technology that built the Ancient Weapons becomes accessible. And who happens to be on the scene? A genius scientist with Vegapunk’s intellect, plus Franky — who has Pluton’s blueprints memorized. This is Franky’s long-awaited total rebuild setup. Ancient technology combined with Vegapunk-level science: the strongest cyborg in history. No more “weaker than Pacifista, weaker than Queen” complaints after this.
The God’s Game

The child-kidnapping game ordered by Celestial Dragon Shamrock (self-proclaimed “God”) mirrors Enel’s survival number-guessing game. And the four Skypiea trials map directly onto this week’s and last week’s Elbaf chapters:

Swamp Trial (Gedatsu) — Kiringam’s ability puts the children to sleep and manifests their fears from cloud-like dream matter. Gedatsu’s swamp trial worked the same way. Kiringam even has a similarly scatterbrained personality to Gedatsu.

Iron Trial (Ohm) — Sauro trying to stop the children with his shield = Ohm’s iron walls. And Somorz’s thorn ability also references this: Ohm’s “White Thorns Deathmatch” used thorn-shaped iron clouds to create a cage. In Skypiea it was “White Thorns Death Match (Blood Battle)”; in Elbaf it’s more like “Thorn Death March.”

String Trial (Shura) — Sauro eventually tying the last child in line to stop the whole sleepwalking procession = Shura’s rope/string trial.

Ball Trial (Satori) — The children’s fears being manifested by Kiringam’s ability = Satori’s surprise-ball trial. All four Skypiea trials are now accounted for in the Elbaf arc.
Loki is a Giant Snake

Correction from last chapter: the Biri-Biri no Mi theory is wrong. The lightning is Ragnir’s power, not Loki’s Devil Fruit. Ragnir is actually an ancient relic — a power generator for the ancient research facility. It functioned like a giant mochi-pounding hammer, generating electricity for the facility. If the robots that operate on that power are part of a closed loop, it’s essentially a perpetual motion system.

So what is Loki’s actual ability? A snake. The evidence:
- Bounty 2.6 billion → 2626 → “Nyoro-nyoro” (ニョロニョロ, the Japanese onomatopoeia for a snake slithering)
- Loki conceals his eyes (possibly blind?) → snakes have pit organs that let them sense their surroundings without sight
- Loki’s tongue is constantly out → snakes use their Jacobson’s organ to collect scent particles and detect prey
- Loki’s hair is purple → other strong purple-haired characters in One Piece include Orochi, whose fruit is the Snake-Snake no Mi
All the physical tells point the same direction: Loki’s Devil Fruit is snake-based. More evidence for a separate dedicated post, but the core argument is already there.
