Two Campfires
Yamato cover story Vol.30: “Page One was alive!” Ulti’s expression says everything — she genuinely loves her little brother, her only blood family. The Sabo-Luffy dynamic maps well here. The cover story layout continues the Skypiea ending homage: the finale scene where Shandia, sky people, priests, pirates, and giant snakes all gathered around a campfire regardless of which side they had been on. All former enemies, celebrating together.
Goldberg’s Father
Goldberg’s shield was a Homie — given life by Big Mom’s Soul-Soul Fruit ability. Also revealed this chapter: Goldberg’s father was a member of the Big Mom assassination squad. Given the matching nose, the bearded giant sandwiched between Oimo and Kashi in that old panel is almost certainly the father.
After Skypiea: Long Ring Long Land
Sanji and Zoro used a combination technique to bring down Gloriousaurus. “Glocky” and “Air Force Power Shoot” — those terms point directly to Long Ring Long Land, the arc immediately after Skypiea. The Glocky Ring match, Sanji and Zoro vs. the Foxy Pirates. The homage sequence keeps moving forward in arc order.
Also: Glocky Monsters’ “Big Bang” is the “Wotan” (giant fishman) that Gaban mentioned. And Vegapunk’s world-sinking theory is also connected to Long Ring Long Land. The story keeps reaching back into its own history.
Campfire
Luffy and Loki eating together and sharing soup — the “Golden Eve Festival,” the first campfire scene in Skypiea. In the cover story, it’s the moment just before the final Skypiea celebration bonfire. And even the forest fire that endangered the giant children earlier can be read as a campfire homage — the double campfire of the chapter title.
Where Shanks Went
After Shanks departed Elbaf, where did he go? The analysis points to “the Ice Island” — the place where Moria found Oars. This has been discussed in earlier posts and the destination fits the trajectory Shanks appears to be on.
Luffy and Loki Will Duel
The structural parallel: Luffy tried to board Shanks’ ship. Loki tried to board Rocks’ ship. That establishes the lineage:
- Roger (the Pirate King) → Luffy (wants to be Pirate King)
- Rocks (wanted to be King of the World) → Loki (wants to be King of the World)
Roger’s successor versus Rocks’ successor. The structural opposition is Roger faction vs. Rocks faction, played out a generation later. Luffy and Loki will ultimately end up as something like allies — the Harley mural and Ragnarök homage both require it. But neither will simply submit to the other. Both have ambitions to be king. The only resolution that works narratively is a direct confrontation first — a duel — and the Vol.35 reference is the likely template.
