Red-Haired Pirates
In addition to Shanks, Ben Beckman, Lucky Roux, and Yasopp, the character profiles for the executives — Lime Juice, Bonk Punch, Monster, Building Snake, Hongo, and “Howling” Gab — as well as Rockstar, were revealed in the ONE PIECE FILM RED special bonus booklet “4 Billion Volume.”
Here’s a full roundup of everything we know about the Red-Haired Pirates!
Shanks
Captain of the Red-Haired Pirates
Epithet: Red-Hair
Bounty: 4,048,900,000 Berries
Age: 39
Weapon: Saber “Gryphon”
In Vol. 104, Shanks displayed an extraordinary level of power by intimidating Green Bull from an “ultra-long distance” with an “ultra-powerful” Haki blast.
Shanks has yet to show his full strength. The movie theater entry bonus “4 Billion Volume” revealed even more new information.
“Observation Killer”
Control over presence
Conceals the future
By concealing his presence, he can also suppress his intent to attack — making his attacks completely unpredictable.
This reminds me of “Zetsu” from Hunter × Hunter.
Ben Beckman
First Mate of the Red-Haired Pirates
Age: 50
Bounty: Unknown
Weapon: Rifle
As of the SBS in Vol. 8, he was introduced as the character with the highest IQ in the series.
New information from the 4 Billion Volume:
Haki
+ Rifle
Bullet penetration
Playboy
Lady’s man
He shares traits with Rayleigh — both are a No. 2 of a legendary crew, both love women, and both have long hair.
Yasopp
Sniper of the Red-Haired Pirates
Epithet: Chaser
Age: 47
Spouse: Banchina
Son: Usopp
Bounty: Unknown
Weapon: Musket
New information from the 4 Billion Volume:
Sniper — never misses a shot
Crustaceans: eats them whole
Great dancer
Could Luffy eating shrimp with the shell on be something he picked up from Yasopp?
Great dancer → great sense of rhythm → fitting for the father of Usopp, who’s always the first one singing at a party.
Lucky Roux
Cook of the Red-Haired Pirates
Age: 35
Bounty: Unknown
Weapon: Musket
New information from the 4 Billion Volume:
Cook
(Bad with women)
Haki
Human cannonball
Oda’s character design sheet shows incredibly muscular legs — he must be agile despite his size. A cook who’s bad with women — the exact opposite of Sanji.
(Oda-sensei, do you actually think bowling is a martial art?)
Monster and Bonk Punch
Monster
Musician duo of the Red-Haired Pirates
Age: Unknown
Bounty: Unknown
A full-fledged executive. A monkey with fighting power and intelligence rivaling a human.
He’s been in the crew since Chapter 1, making him one of the longest-serving members.
New information from the 4 Billion Volume:
Musician duo:
Monster stalls for time and takes out the small fry
Bonk Punch charges up
and delivers a decisive blow against the strong ones
Bonk Punch
Musician duo of the Red-Haired Pirates
Age: Unknown
Bounty: Unknown
In Chapter 1, he was a standout character — a striking presence who picked a fight with Luffy.
New information from the 4 Billion Volume:
One decisive blow
Counter punch
Superhuman strength
Charges up before striking
Think of it like King Kong’s King Punch. So he fights with his fists, not a weapon.
Lime Juice
Combat member of the Red-Haired Pirates
Age: Unknown
Bounty: Unknown
Lime Juice has also been with the crew since Chapter 1. His signature pointed hat hasn’t changed in 12 years.
New information from the 4 Billion Volume:
Aerial combat
(Flies like Sanji)
Lightning user
So his fighting style is similar to Niji?
Hongo
Doctor of the Red-Haired Pirates
Age: Unknown
Bounty: Unknown
Like Bonk Punch, he was a memorably goofy, gap-toothed character in Chapter 1.
His hairstyle and scar remain exactly the same as 12 years ago.
New information from the 4 Billion Volume:
Doctor
· Expert on weapons
Instantly disassembles them
Weapon destruction
Neat freak
Hongo played a major role in FILM RED, and after the movie’s release, the number of self-proclaimed Hongo fans skyrocketed.
Building Snake
Navigator of the Red-Haired Pirates
Age: Unknown
Bounty: Unknown
Hard to spot in Vol. 1, but it seems he has already met Luffy.
New information from the 4 Billion Volume:
Navigator
Techniques:
Stomping kick
Acrobat
“Juggling dual blades”
Solid defense
This fighting style reminds me of Sanji’s battle against Wanze. Maybe Oda-sensei had a soft spot for that fight?
“Howling” Gab
Combat member of the Red-Haired Pirates
Age: Unknown
Bounty: Unknown
“Howling” is his epithet, not his actual name.
According to the 4 Billion Volume:
“Cutting roar”
“Paralysis”
· Hates bugs
· Hates ghosts
He can unleash a “cutting roar” from his mouth and looks like a monster — yet he’s a total scaredy-cat. Very Oda-like character design.
Rockstar
Combat member of the Red-Haired Pirates
Age: Unknown
Bounty: 94,000,000 Berries
Despite being a newcomer, he was entrusted with delivering a solo message to “Whitebeard,” a fellow Emperor — proof of his considerable ability.
New information from the 4 Billion Volume:
· Stickler for rules
· Strong sense of justice
Brings his sword straight down
“Splitting Slash”
Drills with his sword
Reminds me of Captain T-Bone. It feels like a lot of the Red-Haired Pirates’ designs draw from the Enies Lobby arc.
Uta
Former Red-Haired Pirate
Age: 21 (deceased?)
Bounty: None
Devil Fruit: Uta Uta no Mi (Paramecia)
Uta makes anyone who hears her sing happy. A supremely talented singer beloved by fans all over the world.
The Latest Red-Haired Pirates
After driving off Green Bull, Shanks was seen sharing drinks with the Giant Warrior Pirates on Elbaf, near Wano Country.
It turns out that Dorry and Brogy are sworn brothers with Shanks. That makes the Giant Warrior Pirates effectively under the Red-Haired Pirates’ umbrella.
This level of influence is something that was completely unimaginable back in Chapter 1.
The full scope of the Red-Haired Pirates as a legendary crew is gradually being revealed — and we can’t wait to see what comes next.
