Dressrosa Arc Homage
Shacky has been abducted, and the timeline has advanced to the day of the God Valley Incident. This chapter carried heavy echoes of the Law and Corazon flashback from the Dressrosa arc.
Several lines from that flashback now feel like major foreshadowing for God Valley.
How Rocks Dies

From page one:
Marlon is killed, and Shacky is taken from the pirate island.

On the day itself, Garling — who had returned to the island for the human hunt — reacted to the news of a child with something resembling joy, yet casually moved to kill Shanks’ mother as “not suitable to be his wife.”

That silhouetted scene is a direct homage to the Corazon and Doflamingo moment.

The barely-alive woman Dragon finds at the end appears to be Shanks’ mother — who, like Corazon, stayed alive by sheer will until she could send her child to safety.

In the panel below, Teach and his mother were shown trapped in hand-stocks inside a cage.
The “SR Dasatto” (Swift Rabbit) listed as the Davy clan — could that be Teach and his mother? Which would mean Rocks used his own hands to trap his family…
The Final Scene of FILM RED
As a refresher for the events that follow: “Pirates always bring treasure chests back to their own ships — it’s instinct.”

The conclusion of the God Valley Incident, confirmed:
- 39 years ago — Shanks is born
- 38 years ago — the God Valley Incident. Roger takes the treasure. Mixed in with it: an infant (Shanks, age 1)
- Garp and Roger cooperate to defeat Rocks
- Rocks dies; the Rocks Pirates disband and scatter
- Shakuyaku survives
- Teach escapes the island
- Roger brings home the treasure chest containing Shanks

Davy D. Jones

Rocks sharing a drink with Harald and explaining the secret of the “D” is a clear homage to Whitebeard’s final moments before death at the Paramount War.
Rocks has a hidden name. Not just “Rocks” — his full name is Davy D. Xebec. And he revealed that he is a descendant of the legendary pirate Davy D. Jones.
Which means Rocks’ sons are likely:
- Davy D. Teach
- Davy D. Buggy
Though the basis for Buggy being Rocks’ son still hasn’t been shown on panel — and the day of the incident has already arrived.
Buggy can’t have been born after Shacky’s abduction and before the incident — the math would require it. Which means Rocks may have died without ever knowing he had a second son.
“D” Is a Great Problem Tied to History

- Law’s true name: “Trafalgar D. Water Law”
- Corazon told him upon hearing it: “D is the natural enemy of God”
- From a pirate hideout…
- …treasure was stolen
- Robin, who was saved by Hagwar D. Sauro in the past
- Becomes a crewmate after Monkey D. Luffy saves her life
- Finds Gol D. Roger’s name inscribed on a Poneglyph in Skypiea
- States that “D” being tied to history is a great and dangerous matter
- Is then told by Law that he too carries the hidden “D”
The scene of Rocks confiding in Harald mirrors the Dressrosa flashback where Law, trusting Robin as an ally, confided his hidden name.

Personally, I think those two make a great pair. I would love to see them become a couple.
Yamato’s Cover Page

Yamato’s Cover Page Series Vol. 41: “Now, Apple in Cheek, Heading Back to the Flower Capital!”
The free-association chain that led here: the earlier scene of Robin and Gan Fall discussing D’s significance at Skypiea.
So this week’s cover is a self-homage to Skypiea’s finale: “Stolen the gold from the giant snake’s belly — heading back to the Blue Sea!”
