Theory: The Snake-Snake Fruit Mythical Zoan Type
Loki’s bounty hinted that he is a snake-type ability user.
For example…
Roger’s bounty: 5.564.8 billion → 6(Ro) 4(ji) 8(ya = r)
Shanks’ bounty: 4.048.9 billion → 4(Sha) 8(n) 9(ks)
Kaido’s bounty: 4.611.1 billion → 110 (hyakuju) → Hundred Beasts Pirates
As you can see, bounties often contain wordplay in the smaller digits — but occasionally the larger units are included too.
Crocodile’s bounty: 1.965 billion → 9(ku) 6(ro) 5(ko)
Mihawk’s bounty: 3.59 billion → 3(mi) 5(ho) 9(ku)
Zoro’s bounty: 1.111 billion → matching Zoro’s birthday in a repeating digit pattern
With this in mind, I wondered: could Loki’s bounty also hide a wordplay hint?
Loki’s bounty: 9.06.22 billion
→ 9(jor) 0(mu) 6(n) 2(ga) 2(nd) → Jormungandr!
Loki’s ability: Snake-Snake Fruit Mythical Zoan type, model “Jormungandr”
The Snake as God’s Messenger and Deputy
The first character in the story to be called the Sun God wasn’t Nika — it was Uwabami.
From that moment on, the snake and the Sun God have always appeared together as a set.
Uwabami appeared at the sacrificial altar and was killed by Noland. Its descendants attacked Noland’s descendants as they fell into the earth fissure, and were killed by Kalgara — yet their line survived, eventually becoming the pet of Shandia’s people.
That snake (Nola) lived for over 400 years and swallowed Luffy, at which point the sound effect “Nikah!!” revealed the name of the Sun God Nika — a famous scene.
This snake (Nola) had been worshipped for generations by the Shandia as a deputy of the gods.
Over time, when it merged with Luffy — who carries the power of the Sun God — the divine name “Nika” appeared.
And then the false god Enel was defeated…
If Oda deliberately set this all up from the very beginning, it’s breathtaking.
In short: the snake is God’s deputy, God’s messenger.
“The Sun God and the Snake are a set.”
And in Norse mythology, the serpent paired with Loki’s son Thor (the thunder god) is Jormungandr.
Loki’s son Thor (thunder) + Jormungandr (serpent) → Loki’s Devil Fruit = Snake-Snake Fruit, model Jormungandr
Maya Civilization Pyramids and Snakes
Shandia’s model is the Maya civilization of Mexico.
This pyramid has 365 steps = representing one year. Since ancient times, they carefully observed the sun and understood the seasonal cycle.
At the base of the pyramid’s staircase are giant snake heads. On the spring and autumn equinoxes — just twice a year — the shadows on the stairs create a mystical effect where the body of a serpent appears to descend.
This demonstrates that in Maya civilization, the snake was revered as a sacred creature, a messenger of the gods.
Oda-sensei likely knew all of this when he depicted Uwabami as a divine proxy.
The reason he keeps linking the Elbaf Arc to the Skypiea Arc is also, I believe, to connect it to Maya civilization’s sun worship — the model for Shandia.
Moreover, historically, it was the Spanish who destroyed the Maya civilization. And many of the Blackbeard Pirates’ captain names are taken from Spanish conquistadors who dominated South America.
Sun VS. Black Hole — the Luffy vs. Teach battle may be approaching soon.
Is Loki’s Power Really a Snake?
Loki’s appearance in Chapter 1174 was unmistakably that of a dragon. ‘This clearly isn’t Jormungandr…’
But there is still evidence to call it a snake.
Most likely, this form is inspired by the great serpent Nidhogg from Norse mythology — one of the serpents that gnaws at the roots of Yggdrasil, the World Tree.
Nidhogg is often depicted as a dragon. Since the snake and dragon categories overlap in East Asian mythology, it’s plausible that the same being appears dragon-like in One Piece.
So, while Loki appears as a dragon, the possibility remains that his form is the great serpent Nidhogg.
Conclusion: Loki’s Devil Fruit is the Snake-Snake Fruit Mythical Zoan, model ‘Lightning Dragon Nidhogg’!
※ Note: The chapter 1128 color spread — which introduced the false Sun God ‘Lord’ — may have actually depicted Loki.
