“LIE TURN INTO REALITY”

When the “onion boys” (Usopp’s childhood crew) realized that Sogeking, the “King of Snipers,” was actually Usopp, they said:
“The Captain turns every tall tale into the real thing!!”
The same sentiment appears in the cover page of Chapter 796, “A Soldier’s Resolve.”

Look closely at the words written on Usopp’s swimsuit in this illustration.

They read: LIE TURN INTO REALITY
Which translates to “turn lies into reality.”
In this article, we verify whether that phrase has literally come true throughout the series.
Lies That Came True Before Usopp’s Eyes
30 Million Berry — Back of Head on a Wanted Poster

In the East Blue — where average bounties hover around 3 million Berry — Luffy crushed 15 million Buggy the Clown, 17 million Don Krieg, and 20 million Arlong one after another.
By defeating so many high-value targets in a row, Luffy was slapped with an unusually high starting bounty of 30 million Berry — a rare figure by global standards.
Usopp spots the back of his own head in Luffy’s wanted poster and brags about it.

That lie comes true.
As Sogeking, Usopp shot down the World Government flag at Enies Lobby, officially becoming a global criminal — and his own 30 million Berry bounty was assigned from the very start.

Awakening of Haki

First, it’s surprising that the Tontatta tribe knew the details of the Fishman Island battle. Did the pirates captured by Hody sell info to the press after returning to the surface…?
At Green Bit, Usopp told a lie to cover up being scared by the earthquake that followed Fujitora dropping a meteorite.
The scene where this lie came true was genuinely thrilling! The distance was probably 500 meters to under 1 km.
The fact that just-awakened Observation Haki could bridge that distance suggests it could cover an impressively wide area with further training.

Cerberus

A flashback panel from when Usopp was playing “pirates” as a kid back in Syrup Village.
He hides behind a tree and orders his crew: “It’s Cerberus — drive it off!!” From the way Usopp acts, it looks like he was nearly attacked by a bulldog and his three followers saved him.
That lie came true when they were chased by the Cerberus created by Dr. Hogback.

Dragon
Another panel from the “pirate roleplay” flashback. Usopp spots a lizard and charges forward yelling “It’s a Dragon — capture it!!”
That lie came true when they encountered the dragon that Vegapunk created through genetic engineering.
Giant Condor

After arriving at the summit of Drum Rockies by ropeway, Usopp improvised a solo adventure story about “a mountain-climbing tale attacked by a giant condor.”
The “giant condor” from that lie became reality at Sabaody Archipelago.
Giant Goldfish and the Land of Little People

Usopp’s adventure tales told to cheer up Kaya, who couldn’t leave the mansion due to illness. Among the stories was a tale about “a giant goldfish and a land of little people.”
That came true in the Dressrosa arc.
Lies That Came True Without Usopp Even Knowing
Landing on Giant Goldfish Poop

Also from the adventure tales told to Kaya — the “giant goldfish” story.
A goldfish’s most famous trait is that permanently attached, never-detaching excrement.
The mere idea that this poop could be “island-sized” is enough to shatter the imagination. Hard not to laugh.
But in the Grand Line, there was a giant who had actually experienced what Usopp made up. Sharp readers would start raising an eyebrow right around here.
“Die Without a Snack” Disease
Among Usopp’s lies, the hardest to depict as reality is the “disease series.” “The disease where you can’t enter an island,” “the disease where you die if you walk any further…”
Among them, a real-life case of the “die without a snack” disease was found — Big Mom’s eating disorder.
Big Mom rampaged in search of the wedding cake as her stomach rumbled louder and louder, visibly growing thinner.
If Sanji hadn’t recreated the wedding cake, she likely would have raged until exhausting all her energy and starved to death.
There’s another patient from the WCI arc who showed similar symptoms. This person might have the very same disease…
Legendary Mole
The lie Usopp told when being pressed by Captain Kuro.
“I saw a legendary mole going into Kaya’s mansion.”
That lie also came true. In the cover story series “Gedatsu’s Accidental Blue Sea Life,” a mole known as the “Legendary Ground Patrol Chief” makes an appearance.
Lies Still Awaiting Fulfillment
The Legendary Medicine
The lie Usopp told in an attempt to cheer up his critically ill mother. If the legendary medicine truly existed, it could save Luffy even if he contracted the same incurable disease as Roger.
But that role should be filled by Chopper, who is aiming to become the “cure-all doctor.” So perhaps this lie won’t come true after all?
Medicine That Cures Stupidity
A little side note connecting to the “cure-all” theme — this one’s about Chopper.
In the Enies Lobby arc, Zoro’s legendary directional impairment strikes again — getting lost on a clearly visible staircase. Nami calls it “fantasista” level.
Sympathizing with Zoro’s plight, Chopper vows to create “a medicine that cures stupidity” for him.
And 43 years later… a 60-year-old Chopper completed the “medicine that cures stupidity”!!
Vegetable Star Alien
Some analysts have given up, saying “surely this lie can’t come true.” But since the Skypiea arc, One Piece has steadily been building toward a space arc.
So will we see a “space arc” for the Straw Hats? And will a “vegetable star alien” actually appear?
Or… have they already appeared? → The apple thief who became an alien. What if Enel started a vegetable stand on the moon?
