Analisi della Storia di Copertina di Yamato — Vol.16
La copertina di questa settimana mostra O-Tama che fa allenamento ninja mentre Shinobu la sorveglia. La composizione è quasi identica alla copertina dell’«allenamento da sposa» di Vivi.
Ecco perché è importante: Luffy disse a Vivi: “Scommetti la tua vita con la nostra — sei la nostra nakama!” nel mezzo dell’arco di Alabasta. Ciò significa che l’ordine in cui Luffy riconobbe i nakama era: Chopper per primo, poi Vivi. Il che conferma che la copertina Vol.15 della settimana scorsa (“Ascolta, Chopper!”) era esattamente quello che pensavo — un omaggio al reclutamento di Chopper. La teoria che la storia di copertina di Yamato sia un riassunto delle avventure di Luffy continua a reggere.

A Two-Day Rebound?
A small timeline puzzle: the Straw Hats have only been at sea for about two days since leaving Egghead — departing right after Vegapunk’s final broadcast. That means the slim Shinobu we see in the cover story represents how she looked two days ago. Did she rebound that quickly?
This raises a broader question about how the cover story timeline synchronizes with the main story. The Shanks vs. Bartolomeo cover story raised the same issue. For now, the assumption that cover story and main story share the same timeline produces some amusing contradictions.
The New Giant Warrior Pirates
The reveal: the self-proclaimed “Sun God” is Road, the navigator of the New Giant Warrior Pirates. The name is no accident — “Lord” in the Bible refers to God (Yahweh) and Christ simultaneously. A proud giant calling himself a Sun God carrying the title “Lord” fits perfectly.
Road’s motive seems clear: the New Giant Warriors agreed to become subordinates of tiny humans (the Straw Hats), and Road never accepted that. When an opportunity to imprison them landed in his lap, he took it. Understandable, in a pirate’s logic — and a warrior from Elbaf would consider serving under someone smaller than his foot a matter of pride. When Luffy and Law formed their alliance, even the Heart Pirates had dissenters. Giants aren’t different.
Shipwright: Stansen
There’s a strong case that Stansen is the giant we saw at the Human Shop in the Sabaody Archipelago arc. The evidence: scar under the right eye, spiky beard texture, eyebrow shape, nose profile — all virtually identical.
If that’s right, Stansen owes the Straw Hats a debt — they were the ones who went against the World Nobles at Sabaody. He’d be naturally well-disposed toward Luffy.
Ship’s Doctor: Gerz
Look carefully at young Gerz in the flashback: the expression she has watching Hiluluk is distinctly lovestruck — flushed cheeks, soft gaze. And she’s still sailing in the same crew as an adult. She’s practically his wife candidate at this point.
Given that, her disposition toward the Straw Hats almost certainly follows Hiluluk’s own feelings. If Hiluluk trusts Luffy, Gerz has no reason to object.
Cook: Goldberg
Goldberg appears to be another one of Hiluluk’s childhood friends — the nose shape matches, the “always eating” personality, and there’s a child in the flashbacks learning swordsmanship alongside Hiluluk that fits the description. Hiluluk, Gerz, and Goldberg look to have been an inseparable trio since childhood.
Their shared history is visible all the way back to Ohara: when the Buster Call fell on the island, these three were seen collecting books together (Ch.1066). That kind of loyal friendship means Goldberg follows Hiluluk’s lead without hesitation. He has no issue with the Straw Hat alliance.
The conclusion: of all the New Giant Warrior Pirates, Road appears to be the only genuinely rebellious member. Hiluluk, Gerz, and Goldberg are aligned. Road is the outlier — and the arc will almost certainly resolve with him falling in line, just like Duval did before him.
