The God Valley Incident took place 38 years before the present manga timeline. This guide follows the events that connect Harald, Rocks, Shanks and Loki, with manga spoilers.
The official film site lists ONE PIECE FILM GOD VALLEY for summer 2027 in Japan and FILM BAAD for 2029. The timeline below is based on the manga.
My theory is that the teaser’s “O” emblem points to Roger, and that the film could tell the story from his perspective.
What about FILM BAAD, announced for 2029? Could it cover Rocks’ childhood and his rise as a pirate? Or perhaps it follows his son Teach, who survived God Valley and eventually became a Devil Fruit user in Whitebeard’s crew?
Either way, FILM BAAD will likely feature a villain as the lead — my bet is it focuses on the Davy family lineage.
Harald’s Timeline
109 Years Ago: Age 45
Giants live three times as long as humans — divide by 3 to get the human equivalent age.
45 ÷ 3 — Harald at age 45 is the equivalent of a 15-year-old human.
At 45 years old, 109 years ago — if still alive today, he’d be 154. The closest human in age is Dr. Kureha (currently 141 years old).
With the overwhelming power of his Ancient Giant bloodline and his authority as King of Elbaf, Harald behaves as though he were a god.
He laughs while clearly kicking a subordinate on purpose — then insists his foot just “slipped.”
This mirrors Wapol, who after the Reverie deliberately struck Vivi and claimed his hand “slipped.”
Same year: he meets Eda and has a change of heart.
Up to this point, the story is a homage to the Drum Kingdom arc.
105 Years Ago: Age 49
Human equivalent: approximately 16 years old.
Four years after meeting Eda: he stops looking down on humans, begins treating them as equals, and shifts his approach toward learning from the world.
Luffy, too, set sail at 16, met Vivi, and learned that brute force alone isn’t the answer.
The parallel between Harald and Luffy is intentional.
81 Years Ago: Age 73
Human equivalent: 24 years old.
Haldimir is born to Harald and Eda — 18 years after they first met…
They met when Harald was the human equivalent of 16, so perhaps giants are not permitted to marry until reaching full adulthood? Or maybe Harald devoted himself entirely to royal duties while building international relations?
Same year: his marriage to Eda is not permitted, and he is wed to Estrilda instead.
About 70 Years Ago: Age 82
Human equivalent: approximately 27 years old.
He successively opens diplomatic relations with foreign nations, sharing Elbaf’s navigation techniques. Pictured: Wano.
The official port at Hakumai in Wano was built large enough for even the Ancient Giant Numbers to pass through — it was constructed specifically to welcome Harald.
Same year: Prince Neptune is born.
63 Years Ago: Harald Age 89 · Loki Age 0
Human equivalent: approximately 29 years old.
Loki is born. Haldimir is 18 (6 in human equivalent).
Harald is struggling against the walls of international politics.
Also born: Road and Goldberg. Big Mom burns a village. The “Waterfall Beard” Yaruru dies.
Same year: Big Mom’s tantrum causes the Winter Solstice Festival of Sun Gratitude to fail.
56 Years Ago: Harald Age 96 · Loki Age 7
Abnormal weather, fires, storms, cold snaps, crop failures, and poor fishing threaten Elbaf with famine — but food aid from allied nations helps the country survive the crisis.
Same year: Estrilda dies. Until the day before Harald’s return, she had been spreading the rumor that all of Elbaf’s disasters were “Loki’s curse,” dying while despising her own child.
As a result, Loki gives up on love just months after his birth.
Estrilda’s brother becomes Loki’s caretaker.
56 to 47 Years Ago: Loki Ages 7–16 · Rocks Becomes a Pirate
Human equivalent: Harald approx. 32 · Loki approx. 2.
Harald, having infiltrated Mariejois, first meets Rocks. Rocks commits the “Kidnapping of Five Kings” and the “Murder of a Fleet Admiral.”
They hear from Yaruru about Galley.
Rumor: the “Giant Army” has been frozen somewhere.
That place is Punk Hazard.
Human equivalent — Loki approx. 2 to 5 years old:
Loki suffers abuse from his mother’s brother. He may have killed the lucky horse Asura that his mother brought from her family home (?). He may have pushed his mother’s brother into the underworld, killing him (?).
Rocks becomes the first person ever to infiltrate the “Flower Chamber” and declare war on Im. He kills a Fleet Admiral at Mariejois. Rocks and Harald meet.
Rocks raids a ship carrying tribute to Mariejois, steals a fortune, destroys the “Gates of Justice,” and escapes. Rocks begins pirating in earnest.
He gathers notable crewmates through Davy Back Fights, but hasn’t formally raised his flag yet.
He heads for Elbaf to recruit Harald.
48 Years Ago: Harald Age 105 · Loki Age 17
Human equivalent: Harald approx. 35 · Loki approx. 5.
Harald constructs eight tree roads across Elbaf, increasing contact between villages and uniting the nation.
When Harald is away, Loki runs wild.
Rocks lands on Elbaf. Loki and Rocks meet.
Harald and Rocks reunite after 9 years. Rocks invites Harald to join his pirate crew.
Rocks proposes: seize Hachinosu’s gold mines and criminal underworld, use the island as a base, and topple the Holy Land.
Hearing Rocks’ ambition to become “King of the World,” Loki feels the void in his heart finally filled.
44 Years Ago: Harald Age 114 · Loki Age 21
The Rocks Pirates are officially formed. They seize Hachinosu in the “Pirate Island Takeover Incident.” Kyō the Yakuza (later Silver Axe) arrives on the island. Rocks carves a hole in a giant boulder, creating the Skull Rock.
44 to 42 Years Ago: Harald Age 116 · Loki Age 23
The Rocks Pirates’ unstoppable advance.
16 raids — including the attack on the International Charity Federation Temple “Foot Colony.” 76 ships sunk. 14 ports burned. 5 towns destroyed. 1 nation collapsed. 3 special violations of World Law Article 18. 25 criminal records erased.
Harald age 116 · Loki age 23. Human equivalent: approx. 35 · approx. 7.
Harald sinks a government warship to protect citizens of an allied nation. Harald shaves his head. The World Government tells Harald: “Eliminate Rocks and we’ll grant Elbaf membership.”
Shakuyaku falls lovesick and abdicates as captain of the Kuja. She opens a shop on Hachinosu and becomes known as the “Treasure of the Pirate Island.”
40 Years Ago: Harald Age 118 · Loki Age 25 · Teach Age 0
Garling recommends God Valley as the venue for the “Human Hunting” tournament targeting non-member nations. Rocks’ child (Teach) is born.
Harald and Rocks duel on Elbaf. Negotiations collapse. They part ways permanently.
39 Years Ago: Harald Age 119 · Loki Age 26 · Teach Age 1 · Shanks Age 0
Shanks & Shamrock are born.
Leader Marlon is killed. Shakuyaku is kidnapped.
38 Years Ago: Harald Age 120 · Loki Age 27 · Teach Age 2 · Shanks Age 1
The day of the God Valley Incident.
Under government surveillance, Harald attempts to stop the Rocks Pirates. Rocks reveals his real name, hometown, and family to Harald. Rocks wants to get his family out of God Valley. To deceive the government’s watchers, Harald allows himself to be sunk by the Rocks Pirates without resistance.
Rocks dies in battle (?). The Rocks Pirates’ destruction is announced.
Harald is filled with regret. “King of the Giants Goes Mad” is reported. Harald breaks his own horns and declares himself a slave.
33 Years Ago: Harald Age 125 · Loki Age 32 · Teach Age 7 · Shanks Age 6
Harald vows “1000 years of atonement” and secretly serves as auxiliary support for the Navy. He is officially permitted to ascend to the Holy Land and granted the rank of “Juujin” (Hidden Blade) within the God’s Knights. Simultaneously, the “Shallow Sea Contract” is carved into his left arm via the Five Elders.
Upon joining the God’s Knights, Elbaf’s World Government membership is promised.
※ If this coincides with Roger’s execution and the dawn of the Great Pirate Era, it may be 24 years ago instead.
20 Years Ago: Harald Age 138 · Loki Age 45 · Teach Age 20 · Shanks Age 19
Neptune is 50 years old.
Harald and Neptune seal a promise between their families: Loki and Shirahoshi become betrothed.
Sauro begins living on Elbaf and is asked to establish a school.
15 Years Ago: Harald Age 143 · Loki Age 50 · Teach Age 25 · Shanks Age 24
Fisher Tiger’s raid on the Holy Land Mariejois succeeds with Shanks’ cooperation. Fisher Tiger, the Hancock sisters, and Koala escape from Mariejois. Harald and Shanks reunite.
Eda is poisoned with ergot fungus and dies. Loki massacres the clan responsible and burns the village to the ground.
14 Years Ago: Harald Age 144 · Loki Age 51 · Teach Age 26 · Shanks Age 25
Harald falls under the “Deep Sea Contract” and is manipulated by Im to desire his own death. Loki forces the acknowledgment of Ragnir and eats a Devil Fruit. King Harald dies at Loki’s hand.
