One Piece Theory: Rocks Pirates Members Are Basically General Zombies! [Past and Present]

List of Rocks Pirates Members

The main members of the Rocks Pirates have finally been shown.

From right to left…

  • Streusen (hidden behind a “!!”)
  • A catfish-like pirate
  • A pirate with claw weapons
  • Whitebeard
  • Miss Buckin
  • Elder Nyon (Gloriosa)
  • A pirate overlapping with Prometheus
  • Golden Lion Shiki
  • Big Mom
  • Captain John
  • Kaido
  • Silver Axe
  • A woman
  • A pirate with a prominent jaw
  • A four-armed pirate

Of the 15 pirates, I’ll cover the 8 whose faces and names can be confirmed, along with their current status.

But first…

While sorting out Whitebeard’s information, I figured out Roger’s timeline — so let me introduce that first.

Roger’s Timeline

Roger reached Lodestar Island 13 years before the day he asked Whitebeard to “lend him Oden.”

I was curious whether this was before or after the God Valley Incident, so I looked into it.

First, 28 years ago was Oden’s second year at sea.

That means Oden’s departure was 30 years ago.

Oden met Roger in his 4th year sailing, so 30 − 4 = 26.

Roger asked Whitebeard to “lend him Oden” 26 years ago from the current timeline.

Roger said “13 years ago” from that point, so Roger reached Lodestar Island 39 years ago from now.

To summarize:

  • 39 years ago: Roger reached Lodestar Island and realized his mistake
  • Waited 1 year for something
  • 38 years ago: Whatever he was waiting for arrived at God Valley?
  • 26 years ago: He meets Oden, who can read Poneglyphs
  • By then, he had already obtained Big Mom’s Road Poneglyph
  • 25 years ago: Reached Laugh Tale, Roger Pirates disbanded, Oden returned home
  • 24 years ago: Stood on the execution platform, dawn of the Great Pirate Age
  • 22 years ago: Ace was born, Rouge died

The calculations match perfectly.

The “something” Roger waited a year for at God Valley was possibly the opportunity to steal Big Mom’s Road Poneglyph.

Streusen

Streusen

Streusen
Source: ONE PIECE Vol. 87, Eiichiro Oda

Streusen noticed young Big Mom’s monster-like nature and partnered with her to build the Big Mom Pirates.

Since he was with Big Mom from childhood all the way to Whole Cake Island, he was naturally a member of the Rocks Pirates as well.

Streusen’s Current Status

At Sanji’s wedding, when the Tamatebako exploded and Whole Cake Castle crumbled, Streusen used his Kuku Kuku fruit powers to transform the castle into a cake, preventing a disaster — but he himself had a disastrous landing and suffered serious injuries.

He’s still alive with no life-threatening harm.

Edward Newgate (Whitebeard)

Reuniting with Roger as captain of the Whitebeard Pirates with Oden aboard — that was 26 years ago.

So the scene where he clashed with Roger was 12 years after God Valley, when Whitebeard was 48.

Whitebeard’s Current Status

Died 2 years ago during the Summit War, killed in the Blackbeard Pirates’ all-out assault.

He was 72 years old.

Miss Buckingham Stussy (Miss Buckin)

Miss Buckingham Stussy (Miss Buckin) — the model for Stussy, the first successful clone created by Vegapunk.

In her youth she was a beauty just like the clone Stussy. Given her closeness to Whitebeard, the “lover” claim may well be true.

Miss Buckin’s Current Status

She landed on Whitebeard’s hometown of Sphinx aiming for his treasure, but her son Weevil was taken away by Green Bull, who arrived at the same time.

Is she currently using Marco to plan Weevil’s rescue?

Gloriosa (Elder Nyon)

Gloriosa, lovesickness
Source: ONE PIECE Vol. 53, Eiichiro Oda
Shakky / Elder Nyon
Source: ONE PIECE Vol. 105, Eiichiro Oda

Like Hancock, Gloriosa was struck by “love sickness” and nearly died, but survived by fleeing the island to chase after a man.

Because she would die without being near the one she loves, the person Gloriosa fell for must have been within easy reach — meaning someone from the Rocks Pirates?

Logically, the person Gloriosa fell for was Rocks himself?

Elder Nyon’s Current Status

Still alive at Amazon Lily.

Incidentally, the empress before last (Shakky) is 64, the current empress (Hancock) is 31 — a gap of 33 years.

If there was one empress in between, the previous empress might be around 47?

If the age gap between current and previous empress is around 15 years, Gloriosa might be about 79 or 80 (Shakky’s age plus 15).

She was around 42 during the Rocks Pirates era.

Since the 64-year-old Shakky is that stunning, 42 would still be the prime of her beauty.

Shiki (Golden Lion)

After the Rocks Pirates disbanded, Shiki, Roger, Whitebeard and Big Mom competed for dominance of the New World — “like the Four Emperors of that era,” as it’s described.

Shiki’s successor was Kaido; Roger’s was Shanks.

Whitebeard’s successor was Blackbeard; Kaido’s was Luffy; Big Mom’s was Buggy.

Shiki appeared not only in the film but also briefly in the main story.

The face momentarily shown by Higurashi, the Mane Mane fruit user ↓

Given that Higurashi was independent with Kaido’s crew and was able to touch Shiki, it’s highly likely she was also a member of the Rocks Pirates.

Shiki’s Current Status

After being defeated by Luffy at the end of the film, the islands he was floating with his powers crashed into the sea, and the Marines moved to capture him — but there’s no depiction of him being caught, so his current status is unknown.

There’s a theory that the person shown in the cover story is Shiki — the kimono pattern is the same — but there doesn’t appear to be a ship’s wheel on his head.

Could be someone else, could be Shiki.

Which is it?

“I’ll quietly steal what I want and bolt” — true to her declaration, Big Mom stole the Uo Uo no Mi.

There’s no doubt that the treasure of the pirate island was the Uo Uo no Mi.

At this time, Zeus had not yet appeared.

Big Mom’s Current Status

Big Mom and Kaido were defeated by Law and Kid and fell into the magma pit.

Afterward there was a depiction of the volcano erupting, but whether the two escaped to the surface remains unknown.

The Blackbeard Pirates’ dialogue and Pudding’s wishful dialogue are completely opposite, so the truth is unclear.

Captain John shown alive in profile, drinking.

This name has appeared multiple times in the past — I felt like “I’ve finally met you.”

The first time the name appeared was right after Bellamy was one-shotted, in the scene where Buggy searches for treasure in a cave.

Introduced in Mohji’s dialogue: “the legendary Captain John, who they say committed every cruelty imaginable for treasure.”

His name came up again in Impel Down — just the name.

Then in Buggy’s accidental slip about the joy of receiving Captain John’s Treasure Mark.

Captain John’s Current Status

The info that “he committed every cruelty for treasure” combined with his zombie appearance with two swords still stuck in his belly strongly suggests he was stabbed to death by his own men for hoarding treasure.

In any case, since he’s depicted as a zombie, he is definitely dead.

Kaido

“I hear Roger’s on the move — that guy alone” — a line that hints at some personal grudge against Roger.

Kaido joined the Rocks Pirates at 15; the God Valley Incident happened when he was 21.

In 6 years they could have clashed multiple times.

By the way, what race is Kaido?

The only races absent from Big Mom’s island are giants, Lunarians, and Buccaneers. But is there a race that looks anything like Kaido?

Kaido’s Current Status

Kaido was sent deep underground into the magma by Luffy (Nika).

Like Big Mom, whether he escaped to the surface after the volcano erupted — and whether he’s even alive — remains unknown.

Silver Axe?

Next to Captain John’s panel was a figure that looked exactly like the biggest of the General Zombies.

Could this be Silver Axe?

But if it’s “Silver” Axe, then “gold” armor and a “sword” doesn’t quite fit.

Then could it be Wang Zhi?

But Wang Zhi was alive until the Rocky Port Incident, fighting Blackbeard — so he couldn’t have been a zombie at Thriller Bark.

Besides, Wang Zhi is the name of an actual historical figure, so he should receive more careful treatment.

Then could the last silhouette be Silver Axe?

And was he the middle one among the General Zombies?

Wait — the second from the left among the zombies has claws!

And there’s a catfish-like body shape in the back left!

Could most of the General Zombies have been former Rocks Pirates?
