Bon-chan on the Cover Page

Bon-chan is back after a long absence! Last time was the cover page of Vol. 67, Chapter 666 — where we thought he had died helping Luffy and the others escape Impel Down, only to discover he was alive and had become the new Queen of Newkama Land. What an incredible chapter that was.
Incidentally, Chapter 666 was the Punk Hazard episode featuring the Yeti Cool Brothers. This confirms the Punk Hazard self-homage I’ve been talking about.

Road’s Younger Brother

Among the hostages, it was revealed that Road’s younger brother is also included. That’s Bjorn. His lines do sound like someone from Road’s bloodline.
Self-Homage to the Punk Hazard Arc

A diagram to help make sense of the current situation. The parallels:
- Giant children held hostage
- A situation where being caught in the crossfire would be fatal
These elements do feel somewhat similar to Punk Hazard. And if you look at the whole arc through a Punk Hazard homage lens —

- Kirinagum → looks like Caesar Clown, with an animal lower body
- Gunko, possessed by Im → Monet
- Somers → Vergo

The parallels start feeling very real. In that case — just like Monet had her heart taken by Law, could Gunko, who is under Im’s control, also meet her end at the conclusion of the Elbaf arc?
That’s all for today. See you next week.
