The Nekoka-fe Reproduced
Yamato’s cover story Vol.24: “It was Who’s-Who’s hideout!” The hideout is a recreation of the Nekoka-fe (Cat Café) from the 4th floor of Onigashima Castle — complete with the “cat” sign and torii gate. Inside: the stolen Koushirou sword and kidnapped girls. The cover story’s next chapter is looking likely to be Yamato vs. Who’s-Who — which would be unusually rare for a cover story: a serious fight between high-tier characters.
Shamrock Was the Older Twin
From Garling’s dialogue when he was young, it had already been established that Shanks had a sibling. The remaining question was how many — three identical faces (like the Vinsmoke siblings or the mermaid Ichika’s situation)? Now confirmed: twins. Just Shanks and Shamrock.
And along with his identity, Shamrock’s combat power has been revealed: his weapon has eaten a Devil Fruit.
Inu Inu no Mi, Mythical Zoan: Model Cerberus
Cerberus emerged from Shamrock’s weapon. The mechanic is the same as Spandamine’s elephant sword Funkfreed at Enies Lobby — a sword has a mouth, so it can eat a Devil Fruit and gain an animal transformation. This isn’t unprecedented, just rare.
And notice: once again, Loki and Franky are being layered on top of each other. Both are attacked by a Devil Fruit-eating sword. That keeps confirming the theory: Franky’s character DNA is rooted in Loki, the Norse mythology trickster. The homage has been running this whole arc.
The End of the Blackbeard-Cerberus Theory
For years, a significant portion of the fan theory community argued: Blackbeard’s three-skull Jolly Roger + the fact that he “never sleeps” + his ability to hold multiple Devil Fruits = he had already eaten the Cerberus fruit, giving him three faces. Now that Cerberus has appeared as someone else’s ability entirely, that theory is definitively closed.
But the core question it was trying to answer is still open: how can Blackbeard hold multiple Devil Fruits? Marco said “there’s something unusual about that man’s body structure” — that line has never been explained. We still need an answer, Marco.
Erasing Presence
Shamrock can completely erase his presence. That means he has access to Kenbunshoku Satsu — the ability to kill killing intent itself, which is the exact technique Shanks uses to suppress his aura. Combined with the fact that Shamrock has both arms intact, wields a mythical zoan weapon, and presumably shares Shanks’ Haoshoku Haki capacity — he might actually be the stronger twin on paper.
The Contrast with Shanks
The sword names tell the whole story:
- Shamrock’s sword: Cerberus — the hellhound who guards the gates of the underworld
- Shanks’ sword: Gryphon — the guardian of treasures and sacred places
Gryphon = eagle + lion (the mightiest creatures of air and land combined). Cerberus = dog + snake (hellish imagery). Gryphon symbolizes nobility, divinity, wisdom, and protection. Cerberus symbolizes death, the underworld, fear, and order. Both are guardians — but one guards divine treasures and the other guards the dead. Light guardian vs. dark guardian. The contrast in the brothers is written directly into the mythology of their weapons.
Why Shanks Was Crying
The fact that Shanks returned to Mariejois at some point lets us read the old scene of him crying with new eyes. Most likely reading: Roger told Shanks the adventure was over — he’d found One Piece, and since his disease was terminal, he planned to turn himself in. “Disband the Roger Pirates. Go back to where you were born.”
Put Shanks’ life in sequence and something striking emerges: born into nobility → yearned for the pirate life → returned to noble family after Roger disbanded the crew → couldn’t stand it → went back to sea → gained a scar around the left eye. That’s Sabo’s exact story. Shanks and Sabo have lived essentially the same life, just across different generations. The parallel feels too precise to be accidental.

The Meaning of “D”
The answer seems to be confirmed: the “people of the crescent moon.” Other major reveals hinted at in the same page: Emet will move again, Enel’s return is confirmed, the ark Noah moves during the final battle, and the factory-like machine on the far right may be Pluton. Each of these deserves its own dedicated article — more to come.
