Im’s Transformation Is Gear 4
In Chapter 1191, Im’s transformation shows the Omen splitting between the arms and lower body, with horns expanding sideways and a beard sprouting — a dramatic power-up form.
Since Omen works the same way as Haki, this transformation that reinforces the limbs is comparable to Luffy’s Gear 4.
Im’s hair stands on end, the number of horns increases, and the previously androgynous face suddenly takes on a strikingly masculine look.
So was Im a ‘female-type Demon’ all along, and now shifting to a ‘male-type Demon’? Do demons even have gender?
The Dressrosa Homage
If Im’s transformation is a self-homage to Luffy’s Gear 4, then Jabán getting one arm cut off is a homage to Law losing his arm in Dressrosa.
Luffy healing a stab wound mirrors Doflamingo, who repaired his internal organs with his string ability after being stabbed by Law.
And then there’s Hairudin’s Gungnir.
Chapter 1191 was absolutely packed with Dressrosa homages.
But what about the color spread at the start of the chapter?
That’s Doflamingo’s influence too.
Color Spread Analysis
The color spread features a giant Brook, so the funk vibe and afro look like Brook’s influence — but this is actually another Dressrosa homage.
Kin’emon disguised himself as Doflamingo to infiltrate the Corrida Colosseum in Dressrosa…
He wore a slightly afro hairstyle, flashy pants, and funky sunglasses.
Furthermore, the baby bird Hina poking out from Luffy’s afro is the same Hina that was nursed back to health in Doflamingo’s cover story.
By the way, that cover story is ‘The Truth of That Day’ — the chapter where King Cobra met Im.
In other words, it’s right around where the recently discussed 20 Weapons of the Kings are depicted in close-up.
